What is going on with Elon Musk and Twitter?

Mr. Musk has been building up the pressure on Twitter with his public comments questioning the deal . He began last Friday, tweeting that his purchase was “temporarily on hold” until he could get more details about the volume of spam and fake accounts on the platform.

Musk has said that part of the reason he wanted to acquire Twitter is because, in his view, the changes that need to be made to the platform can only be done if it's a private company .

Elon Musk said that his $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter has been put on hold. The billionaire Tesla chief cited pending details to support the microblogging site's claim that spam or fake accounts were less than 5 per cent of its total user base .

Musk is now committed to paying $33.5 billion in cash for Twitter, up from the $27.3 billion he had previously committed to. That lowers the amount of debt he will have to take on from banks to get to the $44 billion he has agreed to pay for the social media company.
